The difference being that nobody is questioning this but you. So you will be addressed.

That's not favoritism, it is just people responding to what you ask.

Of course the topic is about insulting members so maybe that can be what is focused on.

no, once a poster has opened the door to insulting language, of any level, then it'll escalate, because a new debating tactic has begun. it's not about making a point about an issue anymore, it's about the bigger better insult. the poster that makes the first insult towards ANYONE sets that up. otherwise you can't even respond and you have to let that insult stand since the mods aren't cleaning it up (not that they have time)

so you either allow all insults (which is what's going to happen since the mods cant' possibly spend all their time here) or none, if you set a rule for none, we can at least all point to that post and label it "out of bounds, or disqualifying and it'll be dismissed by us on a "gentleman's agreement" sort of way.

I'm sick of the blanket insults "lefties are this... , libs are this... cons are that.." whatever, if we as posters actually identify as a lib or lefty then that's still just insulting us directly, without qualifications that's all that's left, the words "most, some, the majority... etc..." do a lot to help with that, but everyone's a freaking absolutist on here.

For you. Not for everyone. It is not a requirement to insult another member, it is a choice and it is your choice.

You can respond without insulting back. There is a long standing record of this among the majority of humans in society.

I agree. Personally I would rather just let the insults fly. They only bother the people that choose to let insults mean something to them.

On the other end though it would surely eliminate any new member from desiring to join, unless they just want to sling insults as well. Conversations would nose dive into pages of nonsense that no one here would consider saying to each other in person.

You asked everyone to keep it clean and no personal insults. Two ignored that request and fired away.

I suggested what to do. Suspend TT and EAU for a couple weeks as they're the main offenders at this point in time. Anyone doing the same gets suspended as well.

or...

Don't say anything and let anyone say anything to anybody.

But, you are doing nothing again. It will stay a little calm for a while but then you know those two will fire again, its just a matter of time.
