 This has been an adolescent behavior pattern for decades, maybe even since documentation of human psychological patterns.  

 Seems like every generation is worse than the one before.

 Johnny used to ignore advice on how to ride a horse and when to plant seed.

 Johnny used to ignore advice on how to stick weld and break a bolt.

 Johnny used to ignore advice on how to drive a stick shift and change oil.

 Johnny used to ignore advice on how to defrag a hard drive and how to store floppy disks.

 Johnny now ignores advice on how to properly shield from identity theft and control public social media information.
