If that becomes a pain another option is a decal removal wheel. Basically a rubber wheel to put in your drill that uses friction and heat to peel the sticker off.

I used to use them when I was doing car graphics and signs.

Took about 10mins total to get the tank cleaned. Looks soooooo much better now w/o that ugly sticker staring me in the face. Thank you!
