I don't think you're wrong regarding that. I do think you are wrong when you say Democrats, or anyone in office have stated clearly they want to remove every gun from every US citizen. Or "Ban All Guns".

I've not seen evidence of anyone saying to Ban All, (as in every single), Guns.

As for AR-15 clones you are correct, the method will change. Pistols typically give victims a higher survival rate, so that's why most the people I know would like AR's and similar removed from common sale.

Its the rate of potentially lethal projectile per second that is the issue.
