Is there a no maintenance battery
05/06/19 at 11:46:00

Does anyone know of a sealed battery that fits the battery compartment for the Suzuki S40?  It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to take out the battery to add water.

My battery is getting older, and it would be a good time to replace it with a no maintenance type battery.

(If there is something on the website about this, I haven't been able to find it.)

Thanks for your help,

You want a Lithium battery.

I have had a small case AG-801 battery in my bike for 3 years.  It's been fantastic.  No maintenance at all.  Just turn the key each spring and fire it up.  Mine is too small for the OEM battery box, but they make OEM drop-in replacements that have way more power than our stock batteries while being way lighter.  There are other manufactures you can look into a well.

Or.....you need a battery that is AGM (absorbed glass matt).  Once you add the electrolyte, you don't need to add anymore.

They are far cheaper than a Lithium battery - but it is an apple/oranges comparison as they are used for different reasons......the Lithium battery is often used when you want a small size and very light weight, and are will to pay a premium price to get it.

Just put an AGM battery in my wife's bike as the old one had become a great big pain for us.

Thanks for your help.  Looks like either battery would work and both are maintenance free.  Getting into the compartment and taking out the battery to check and replace it is always a nuisance.
