When you detain 92,000 trying to sneak across the border (and I thought I read 53,000 of these were in a "family" unit) .....you have a crisis.

You seem to miss the point that those 92,000 were apprehended - you know, didn't get by. You also seem to be unaware that this number is actually lower when you look at stats from 2000 on.

I get the point completely. The quote below was written on April 9th. Note what it says, since March 19, 11,000 released and expected to show up in immigration court. How many do?

What I do know is that we need comprehensive immigration reform - you know, like Bernie has been talking about for years. We don't want open borders. We need reform.

In 2006 he voted against the Secure Fence Act, which aimed to build a fence along the Mexican border.

Later that year, Bernie voted against the Immigration Law Enforcement Act, which would have given local police departments free reign “to investigate, identify, arrest, detail, or transfer to federal custody” any undocumented immigrants.

Sure looks like he wants open borders to me.

His official Platform on immigration (and if you'd like more, I'll be happy to provide it):

Most undocumented immigrants who are in the country now would receive a path to citizenship under Sanders’ immigration plan. He voted for the 2013 Senate immigration bill that proposed a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, doubling the number of border patrol officers, and providing an additional 350 miles of border fencing. (That bill did not become law.)

Sanders would like to restructure ICE. But he has not given details and has not gone so far as to say that he thinks the agency should be “abolished,” a position some of his 2020 Democratic rivals have taken.
