new cam chain

I finally put in the new cam chain I got from Lancer a while back. After 81k the old one was out a total of 24mm, with the extension. The new chain is out 12mm to start! When they grenade between 18 to 20 there is not a lot of life ahead without the tensioner extension. The design of this bike is quite short term.
This forum has not only helped members, but has spread knowlege that has kept a lot of bikes on the road that would otherwise have been scrapped.

Indeed.....I got so much help, it was GREAT.

Man when Dave sent me a replacement belt when mine broke, I was blown away.....

Not sure of other sites, with motorcycles, but I do go on a boating forum, to learn about my boat(s).
They too have some swell guys who help with knowing your boat better, but maybe because in general boats cost more than a savage, so not as many people have them.....
But this site has a lot of folks stepping up to help!

I replaced the spring inside the tensioner with one about 1/3 as strong back when my bike only had about 4k miles.   Now 40k miles later its still barely sticking out two clicks on the ratcheting device .   Makes me wounder about the thoughtfulness of the Factory engineers  ,  "What were they thinking , they might have forgot there is a ratcheting device in there ?   Wink

Did you install a new rear guide?
This one wears quite a bit and will have an impact on plunger extension.

Huh

Whats a Rear-Guide ?     I did add another hole on the plunger arm that only let the ratchet thing out one click (2014 or 2015 ?) , and  last fall it was out two clicks .

Did you install a new rear guide for the chain?

Your right Versey .    A new plastic pushing thing might be good after 80,000 miles !
