Switch to Raptor Petcock - Vac Plug suggestions

I'm going to swtich out my petcock for the raptor, but i wasn't sure what the best option for plugging the vac line into the carb was. i have 3.17 and 4.76 mm rubber caps (only could find imperial sized caps 1/4" or 3/8" i believe) as well as high temperature RTV sealant. Any other solutions? are my plugs going to be the correct fit? Should i bother using the sealant when pluggging the cap down? would gorilla glue be good solution when capping the vac port? Thanks!

I have a 2007 S40 boulevard btw.

I don't know what size they are....just find one that fits on snug.  They are not designed to need any sealant - they seal just fine without it.

Put a spare in the tool kit - for some reason they age pretty quickly and after a few years you will need to install another one.....they crack and split.

Right, but I don't want to start this process and realize I cannot plug the vacuum line. I don't have a lot laying around that i could jerry right you know?

The easiest way to "get by" in a pinch.....is a piece of the stock tubing and a golf tee! Wink

If your in the middle of no where , take a twig and tap it in gently , it is after all under a vacuum when the motor is running, and not subject to falling out. Any type of sealant used would be subject to attack by fuel and to being sucked into the motor. how long a rubber cap lasts can depend on location , I live in the northeast and mine is on year 5 .

 I cut then folded the stock tubing over and used a small hose clamp.  

 I wouldn't use any sealant, a cap will work fine and a small clamp will make sure it doesn't go anywhere.

I used a trimmed off small black wire zip-tie on the back side of the cap so that it won't easily blow off in case of a back fire through the carb.

I ran a sheet metal screw into the hole and tried sealing it with epoxy which worked for about two years then developed a vacuum leak around the threads, took a while to figure out why the bike was making real loud pops out the exhaust and running hot. Ended up using a cap on the fitting sealed with some RTV black and didn't look back.

Epoxy isn't good , it doesn't hold up to gas ,UV rays, or heat (it gets soft and can run at about 140 F).
