Pretty sad......

Pretty sad.......literally.

A beautiful place to watch the sunrise, however almost 50 years ago, the place was a killing field.
This is Penn Cove, Whidbey Island Washington.

In the dead of night fisherman went into this cove, as the Orca's had taken up their night, out of the currents that constantly move through Pudget Sound, to relax.
They moved in to capture babies (Orcas) to use for entertainment by training them after catching them, etc.
They only wanted babies, and killed many bigger whales in the process, so darn sad. They just sank to the bottom....

Pretty place, yes, sad history.....

(BTW, if you like eating mussels, this is the famous Penn Cove Mussel place, you might have seen on Dirty Jobs.
They raise and harvest (farm)  everyday but Christmas, and flown around the world.)

The first exposure/capture was a different day, than the next two, by me.

Thank you Norm.....
The top one is hanging on my wall, the very first capture I ever printed.
Now that I am ALMOST retired...lol, when I am officially, I shall spend lots more time in the field setting up and capturing these moments.
You get really only a few good moments per day, when the lighting is just right, to get that "perfect" photo.....
You have to be ready, its not just random clicks, even tho digital sure has made it a lot easier to just shoot a ton, and then just discard them....  Grin

Again, thank you so much.... have a great day!  Smiley
