Looking at a 2006 650cc

6700 miles, saw some very light oil seepage under the head on the shifter side, should or can one re-torque those head bolts or is best to leave them alone?

IT'S not the head gasket.
It's misdiagnosed As a head gasket, often, even by dealerships.
The upside is, it's most likely the 5,000 mile valve adjustment was actually done.
Sadly, by someone who couldn't button it up right.
It's not a big deal.

Screw,
Bit of a P.I.T.A. getting a leaf from the feeler gauge out and shaped to get in there, but it's not technically difficult at all.

There are two other places oil might leak nearby, the rubber head plug, or the front and rear head bolts( They are studs, centered in the head ,near the exhaust header and the carb)and face downward and sometimes weep. All three leaks are easy to fix . we have never seen a blown head gasket on one of these bikes.

Yeah but I figured it's pretty low mileage to start those.
Probably be good to post pictures of the leak.

I have and even posted a photo of it here. Burnt through between the cylinder and oil return galley and consumed a lot of oil. I don’t think a head gasket would fail in a way it’d leak oil to the outside of the cylinder

I stand corrected! One blown head gasket ( out of over 8000 owner/ members), but this bike that he's looking at is stock ,6800 miles , If it has a blown head gasket I'll eat it.(I'll mail him a new one -free)

Sorry, seems like I've deleted it and can't find it anywhere. But it's possible, altough mine had a Wiseco piston and a DR650 camshaft, so slightly higher compression ratio.
