The Savage/S-40 take 15 minutes to get off. Once on the work bench everything is easy !

The GS500 carb is not any more difficult/easy to remove or work on than the Savage, just takes a while the first time.

The savage i twist in place and remove the bottom or top . The GS 500 is remove seat . tank . breather box . cables then carbs. Im new to the 500 too
