Cable Routing Questions
01/10/19 at 12:17:47

Hey all,

The bobber(ish) build on my trashed '95 model is coming along, but I've got a couple quick questions that I couldn't find anywhere on the forums.

How are the throttle and clutch cables routed?  I didn't get good pictures before I pulled the engine and now they don't seem right.

Does the starter solenoid have to be grounded?  It was just sitting loose in the electronics box when I bought the bike, and that doesn't seem right.

How are people storing/ hiding electronics?  I replaced the intake with a K&N cone filter, but I'd like to keep the battery in roughly the same place.  I'm not sure if I can fit a false oil tank, so has anyone fabricated a flatter box to go under the seat?

That's all I can think of for now, I'm sure more questions will come up soon.  Thanks for the wealth of info, both on this post and the hundreds of old ones I've been digging through.

Yes, I looked through all the images and couldn't really trace it. It looks like they both feed back above the headlamp, then cross above the frame and drop down where they need to be. I'm not near my bike right now so I can't check until tomorrow. Hopefully that works good enough.

Sorry, but I can't post the photos without shrinking to reduce the file size.  Much of the detail is lost when I shrink.  Here is a picture from the right hand side.

That's exactly what I needed, thanks Mike. I'll get pictures of Li'l Ugly up once it's back in one piece (name is courtesy of my 4 year old helper.)

I literally just made this flat panel last weekend.  I'll be putting all cables and electronics on top of the flat panel, then plan to build a second panel as a cover.
