trump winning the highest office in the land was a fluke - plain and simple.
Hillary had the lowest ratings of any dem in modern history. It was easy to see how she powered her way through the primaries and basically took the nom from Bernie.
Further, she ran a weak campaign after she got the nod. (I think she skipped going to Wisconsin and only visited Michigan once?) . She honestly thought that being a strong woman was enough. Wrong.
Unfortunately, so very many on the right mistook trump's arrogance and bravado for intelligence and leadership. That, and they mostly voted against Hillary instead of actually voting for trump.
Yes, that is just my opinion, but looking at it objectively, it pretty much aligns with reality.
As to trump's personality/character - I have to disagree with the author's view that it won't be trump's downfall.
trump's character - that has been his trademark for his entire adult life is that of a powerful businessman. He simply ignores any other take on himself. In his public persona, he's never been a husband, a father, a friend, a mentor, a public servant, etc., etc. He's only one thing - businessman.
It's a well known fact how he runs his companies - with no integrity and profit as the only goal. He's failed several times, but will no acknowledge them. He's known to short his contractors and renege on deals all the time. His main goal is to promote his brand - period.
However, that doesn't fly in the office of president. Believe it or not, the job of president requires that you work for the United States of America - not the trump corporation.
So his character is actually going to be his downfall because he knows no other way. He is a poster child for narcissism. He's been handed everything he's got from his father and by sheer luck, he wound up in a job he has no skill nor patience for. He treats it as if it's just another reality show.
Everyone can see that. But what's really sad is that so many in this country don't care.
They don't care that he grabs pu$$ies, mocks handicapped people, insights violence at his rallies, (constantly holds rallies), speaks on National Defense matters on Twitter without talking to his Secretary of Defense - and the list goes on.
Actions that would have made republicans' head spin if a democrat had done in office (multiple affairs/marriages, a wife that did softcore porn, ran his family businesses from the White House, etc.), are now for some reason, OK.
trump is a cult of personality. His character will indeed be his downfall. I honestly wonder how his fervent supporters will justify his actions when he's eventually indicted.
