So, what is the issue? All my gadgets have a remote now-a-days, it is hard to find one that doesn't have remote on off function any more. All my VCRs, monitors, TVs, anything electronic for the den in other words. They all have remotes now and they even sell little over the armchair arm pocket holders to hold all the remotes you have to keep track of now.
It is what it is, but what's the real rub with this proliferation of wireless controllers?
Actually, it is a common failure mode (a short end of life failure mode) of the IC switch that takes the remote signal from your device's receiver and then turns the power on and off.
Take my wife's favorite TV sitting in the den, it is a big 'un that pulls like 6-8 amps to crank itself up initially and
this TV wound up burning out its IC switch on the motherboard at approximately 1.5x of the TV's warranty period. Expensive electronics, known Issue, known fix sorta thing on a 48" Sanyo flatscreen TV.
The problem is so common it even has YouTube instructions on how to replace the $90 motherboard that is affected.
Let me give you some generic easy do troubleshooting and repair tips that total $13 to fix your busted TV.
OR IF YOU ARE SMART, YOU DO THIS TRICK FIRST THING WHILE IT IS BRAND NEW AND COMPLETELY AVOID THE ISSUE HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
