Turning signal wiring problem
11/11/18 at 09:45:00

when I got my 88 Suzuki savage it didn’t have rear or front turning signals. Took the seat off and couldn’t figure out which wires were for the rear turn signals since the person before me had taken them off, so I bought some to put on the bike. Anyone know what colors the wires are or what they come off of so I can find them?

Here is a link to the wiring diagrams in the Tech Section.
http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1294779818

The ground wire is black with a white tracer.

The running light wire is brown.

The brake light wire is white with black dots.

The right turn signal wire is green.

The left turn signal wire is solid black.

I believe Dave is correct , but the right signal + for your 88 should not be green ,but light green,  the front signals (stock) had two filaments (three wires) due to also being running lights,  so had a second + wire to each ,both sides,  left and right, were fed with gray wires for this purpose.

Sorry Dave ,but he may have to dig into the main harness to find them, If they aren't in their typical place inside the rear of the headlight housing(depending on the whim of the PO ) , and  seeing green and LT green wires are used on the bike ,I thought to end any confusion. My 86-88 Clymer's has them as Lt  green.
Seeing that he's new here,  it might be good to warn him about not leaving the key in the on position for any length of time to test his work ,as it could ruin the TDI ignition box. (a $450 mistake) ,which can be avoided by removing the left side cover and unplugging it.
You and I may be aware of these things ,but from his question, what colors and where do I find them, I assume he is not.
