1988 4-speed

4000 rpm is ~100kmh (60mph) in top gear.

IF (and that's a big if) I can reach 6000 rpm, it's 150kmh (94mph)

'nuff said

I'll be nice Stewy , I will for go all the mean comments like Scared , Girlyman , Nuetered. Totally understand not wanting to get a speeding ticket  Grin Grin.
I wouldn't want you to crash or anything. Just stay to the right and let all the fast guys go by. A simple pleasure in life is WOT till it won't go any faster !

That's why in racing only a tach is used. Some things you're better off not knowing.

Road racing uses a tach for a long straight. Tachs have almost become obsolete with rev limiters around. Most racing don't use tachs , just another distraction that's not needed or wanted.

Yamaha TA-125,  RD-350,  250 Ducati mach-1 Yam SR500, SRX650  All bikes I raced over the years. All set up with tach only, rotated so redline was 12 o'clock high.

With respect Ruttly, there are some among us who forget whether they are in fourth or fith gear, the tach serves as a reminder of what gear you are in.

For street it's a good thing as well as road racing & drag racing. But unless I'm riding my sportster I would never even look at them. I'm a very  focused rider , if it was legal I would remove speedo , tach , horn & mirrors. I love flying low on the back roads with nothing to distract me. Just me , the bike & the road !
