Kawasaki W650

I've noticed that a few people on this forum have expressed an interest in the Kawasaki W650 and for the first time I've finally seen one listed for sale in Northern Ohio.  If I had sold my old Honda as I had intended this summer I would be making an offer on this bike myself.  But as it is I don't have any room for it.  Here's the Craigslist link.

(that address is supposed to be all on one line)

Love the reto British style of the W (hate the king/queen seat, cheap aftermarket badges and overly thick knee pads on this one).   It looks way better than any modern Triumph in my opinion.   I don't understand how that bike isn't still in production.  Sad

EDIT: Added picture from listing

I agree with you about the seat but that one is not stock.  Somewhere the guy says it is a Corbin seat, the stock seat looked much better.

I think it's been replaced by the W 800, same concept, larger engine.

Its design and construction was to a higher standard. Faster , flashier, cheaper bikes were available.

Yes, it's a fugly Corban king/queen seat.  I prefer the stock seat.

No W800 in the US JStokes.

A higher standard indeed JOG.  You are an owner of one correct?

In the technical sense, yeah.
Frikken loan officer screwed up the title, long story, it's not in my name.
Been parked so long, tanks probably junk.
I just got done with the valves and carbs, replaced the Accelerator Pump, yes, on a bike, and test drove it.. Phhht,
They ride nice, and would bag up and go down the road, but for cross town ripping, or back road playing, I am sold on the savage.
The W is a little tall, but could be dealt with I suppose.

Seems they did away with the W800 2016 or 2017 in NZ, no longer shown on Kawasaki NZ's website.

They made a smaller version in the home market. I saw a w400 when I was in Tokyo last year.
It is a shame that they did not keep that bike here. the only flaw I saw was the tape pin striping.  They really out triumph Triumph. The w650 is much closer to the original bonnie
The insides of the valve train is really cool. Look for a pic of one with out the valve cover.

I can't transfer the title, but I can sell the motor...
No idea what it's worth, but I hate watching it sit.
I cleaned the carbs, replaced the Accelerator Pump, and drained That carb when I parked it, expecting to be riding it soon. It ran well, I also did the valves, it's got around eight thousand miles on it,
I'm not well, so, inspiring me to pull the thing and ship won't be a couple of hundred dollars. They don't have a cam chain. Gear driven shaft off the crank spins the cam. That's part of the reason they cost more than the competition.
