Intermittent horn (and now headlight.)
09/07/18 at 09:41:18
2013. All original equipment. 10k miles. Headlight went out for the first time yesterday. Replaced bulb. Checked fuses (both OK.) Battery charge seems OK. Still no go. Put all back together. Now OK. Noticed this summer that about once a week horn would not work, then OK next day. I'm thinking that they are somehow related, because headlight and horn switches are both contained in same housing (at left handgrip of course.) Any ideas anyone? Bad GND connection perhaps? Thanx.

The only way to know if the problems are connected is by using a multimeter to check voltage and continuity.

Intermittent problems are the worst.
I start with grounds.
After that, connections.

I had the same issue with the horn and headlight. Turned out the large connector under the left front side of the gas tank (just beside the horn) had come a little loose. Tightened that up and the problems been resolved ever since.

The horn, headlight, front turn signals/ running lights , all share a common ground . TTom, has given you some solid advice .

And the horn and headlights all get the power (and the ground) from the same wire harness that comes from the left side of the frame top tube....under the fuel tank. The connector can come loose, or get corroded.
From the factory the connector has a rubber boot that covers the connector, and when it is connected a small piece of electrical tape seals the boot/wire harness joint. When folks move the boot to take the connector apart - they disturb the tape and then most folks never replace it. This allows water to get past the boot and into the connector..and promotes corrosion.
I think you should check the connector under the tank.

Last time I had a problem with headlight and horn.
Later I found out I had issue with right side handlebar switch box.
I opened and cleaned up the box then problem disappeared.
Try it if it works.
