I think we raise the money, buy the best drill possible, then dangle it in front of jog and not give it to him until he posts a picture wearing a pink tutu.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Why would you EVER want to see anything that horrid?

The buckle I wear was my birthday present to me when I turned 23. I went to the Houma mall in Louisiana. That was forty years ago.

I don't know what drill I'd get. I looked for one with a key when I spent damm near fifty bux on this one.
I'm not seeing what I want
And
I'm not wanting what I see.
Who makes what I'm wanting?

I really had no idea how many friends I have here. Regardless of whether a drill is the result of this, I'm very happy.
And we all know
I won't be able to be funny for a while now.
Blame Dave. He started it.

I will send cash, I don't use Paypal, or any electronic transfer for non-official use.  I can donate whatever is needed.

Stewmills:  I don't think I am going to share a tent with you in the future......You seem to have issues that make me a bit nervous!

JOG:  If the 3/8" Milwaukee drill is anything comparable to the 1/2" drill that I own....it is very high quality.  The keyless chuck works perfectly, the drill is incredibly smooth - it does require an electric outlet and an extension cord for most work you do........unless it is in the vice at your work bench.  (The only downside I see to that drill is it does not have reverse and won't work for backing out screws).

Battery powered drills are getting much better - and they do provide a nice alternative.  Most times my battery powered Bosch drill does a good job and it is very convenient for installing wood screws.  If you have 2 batteries one can be charging while you are using the other one - you will never run out of power.

I use the corded drill for polishing and grinding. The reverse feature is kinda important sometimes.
If there is a battery powered unit with a blasted keyless chuck that a non-power lifter can get to stay clamped while spinning a shaft with a tool that bounces around, I'm okay with that..
I have yet to find a keyless chuck that didn't loosen up..

The 3/8 Milwaukee has reverse, I didn't say it because I assumed  every drill does.

Lancer sent pictures and a pretty serious editorial about the options.
Considering the size and weight of the current crop of 1/2" drills, I'm gonna have to step back and rethink things.
It's nice to be able to slap bigger bits in.

I suppose if you buy a $300 version of their drill....it is likely a good one.

But they also make cheaper versions - they all do.  I guess the secret is not to buy a less expensive homeowner drill.....and use it like you are a contractor.

Perhaps I should not keep slamming DeWalt over one bad drill - but my DeWalt cordless drill only lasted long enough to get out of the warranty period.  When I was building our house I was installing a long screw that held the SIPS panel roof in place.........and it smoked and died.  I bought a Bosch replacement drill and installed a few hundred more of those long screws in the roof........and it has been working great for the last 13 years.

I have a DeWalt sawzall....it works fine.

Mine has been good , I've got some of those "Decking screw" type cheeps ones that have lasted a long time , the thing in common is the Lithium batteries .

Those 12 and 18 Volt B&D's are kinda sorry .   I've got a Bosch Corded 3/8 reversing that has lasted 20 years --- if ya can stand to drag the cord out …  Grin
