This perverse situation is due to the Hurleys NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH to accommodate the banking of the track. It takes speeds in excess of 100 mph to make that much banking go neutral.
What would you guesstimate their speed at ???
I'd guess at whatever speed the road captain signaled at the start of the line ...... mebbe his standard 50-55 mph ???
When the floorboards began dragging, what are the odds of them figuring it out correctly ???
How many would reflexively increase their lean angle "away from the turn" and make it worse ??? How many would reflex twitch themselves into each other or into the wall ???
How many would then overcompensate, veer downhill and wind up lowsiding in the grass ???
How many wrecks do you think you'd get just out of that first cluster of hard riders who are riding two abreast ???
What would the crash headlines read ???
Big Harley engines overpower the Daytona speedway on demo day ..... 2 killed and 4 maimed
