So my elevation is about 600ft above. I have noticed my spark plug having a lot a black on it. But this morning I started it up full choke, backed out the mixture screw about 3 full turns and I was able to push the choke back in. It ran a lot better. A little backfiring but that was not even close to warm yet.

Also the new muffler I was talking about will be a 17" reverse shorty cone. I think its an Emgo brand.

Three turns out on the mix screw is too much! the screw could fall out due to vibration. the screw should be adjusted with the motor warmed up ,slow the idle speed as low as you can then adjust the mix screw until you obtain the highest idle speed ,the screw should be 1to 2 1/2 turns open .( less than1 the pilot jet is to large, more than 2 1/2 the jet is to small ) Reset your idle speed back up to 1000+ rpm.

I put a tach. on my bike mounted right at the top of the bars. It is very easy to read at that height, consequently I can check my speed whilst wearing a full face helmet and not moving my head.

My idle is set at 17/18 hundred rpm. However, I think at that speed it is a bit optimistic. At idle my speedo shows about 12/13 MPH but the engine sounds normal to my ears.

2014 S40. Raptor. idle mixture adj.Needle raised one notch. 4000' altitude. Stock jets. Shell Rotella synthetic.
