So....... who was right?

Was Regan right when he called Russia the Evil Empire?
Was Mitt right when he said Russia was our greatest threat?

Or.....

Was Obama right when he called them JV players?

Where do you want to go with this? What does Trump say?

Basically, I believe in communication whenever possible. All 3 characteristics are meant as provocations. If I call you an idiot or a danger, would that set a good environment for us communicating well? Or would it be better if I said that despite our disagreements, should we try and work something out that can benefit both of us?

But its so much easier to call people dangerous idiots.

Once the name calling is finished then progress happens in two ways, either one overpowers the other, or they have a productive conversation.

Hhhmmmmmm........

Interesting response.
I will leave it for now without prejudice.

I will clarify the question if that helps.

We have a "Russian" problem.
It was a problem prior to Trump.
If we want to resolve this problem, we need to understand all of the mitigating circumstances, that have led us up to this problem.

You want to gloss over some, and focus on only others, will that produce the best resolution?

Trump rubs Merkel's nose in supporting Russia by buying fuel from them.
Clearly a puppet.

Russia is still smarting over losing the "empire" of annexed countries after WWII.  It still has the Stans which, being oil rich, is good for Russia.

Many of those once occupied countries now have large minority Russian populations, some of those folks would  like to rejoin a new and Greater Russia.

Much like if the Mexicans in Texas . New Mex. Ariz, Calif wanted to leave the US and rejoin Mexico (I'd be all for it) Grin Grin Grin  This is a never ending song, as population shift.

Frankly, I'd be happy if New England, NY, joined the Maritimes in a new Eastern Canada, but hey, that is my great dislike of the trumpets speaking. Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink

As an aside, Trumpy says Germany is under Russia's thumb cause they buy oil from them: So is the US under the thumb of the Saudis for the same reason?

You're confused.
When you rely on allies it's DIFFERENT from being Reliant on the Eeevil Russia.
And enriching Russia while
At the Same Time
Not supporting your allies
And
Needing defense from Russia
Just seems stupid
But, hey, it's obvious
On its face
I'm not telling you anything you don't already know
