Adjusting the shift lever

Seems I need to wear sneakers to get my big fat foot under the shift lever and most of the time boots would be more appropriate.
I'm sure I can move the lever one spline over but that might be too much.
It's hard to tell for me looking at the linkage but is the linkage adjustable by loosening both end nuts and turning the shaft like a turnbuckle?

Yes loosen the locking nuts on both ends ,one is right and the other left handed.then turn the shaft to adjust the pedal.

There is an adjustment for the brake pedal also,  it a screw on the back of the mount plate.
