I am not sure where to start with this. It always interest me that those which know nothing about the Christian faith are such big critics.
Lets start with "White Christian" The Christian faith has nothing to do with white people, however millions of white people do follow the faith. Jesus was not white, nor was Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Paul, Peter or any other person in the Bible. The Bible teaches that ALL Humans are descendants of Adam and Eve the first two created beings and that we are ALL made in the image of God. This is what gives all humans VALUE. For those that believe in Darwinism he believed (as stated in his book Origin of the Species) that Black people evolved at a much later time and from different animals and this explained why they were so inferior to white people. The Bible does NOT separate humans by "RACE" in fact there is only one place in the Bible where a persons skin color is mentioned, it says "Esau was born with red skin" However it does separate people by culture and through that we can guess what color skin a person may have had.
There are Christians from all races all over the world. Actually Christianity is booming right now particularly in the Latino countries, Eastern countries and yes the Middle East.
I guess you are talking about what is considered the declining numbers of white people in Western Culture that are Christian. Yes in the USA there is a decline in all Christian churches with one exception, Evangelical Baptist Churches and they are only growing marginally. Why is a big question and I am sure would have a lot of opinions.
I think Web hit on one of the biggest issues in Western Culture. We simply have so much we do not feel we need a God. We have traded God for stuff.
Science is King in the USA, but it has been placed there incorrectly. Science is a discipline and the idea that science and religion don't mix is to reject half of what it means to be a human being. Science tells us a lot but science in not intended to or able to tell us everything. For instance science can help us to build an atomic weapon but it can not give us the answer of whether it is right or wrong to use that weapon. When people claim to only live by science they are deluding themselves.
I have stated before that Worldviews are important. There are 4 basic questions that need to be answered by any Worldview. (yes I know people are going to dispute this) but they are Origin, Meaning, Morality and Destiny. I could go on and on about this for hours but lets try to make a brief comparison of the Christian answers compared to the Secular answers to these issues.
Origin: we believe that God was the first cause that brought all into being and that ALL men are created in his image and that all human life is sacred because of this. For the secularist the Universe came about by accident. ( let me add something here. scientist have labeled this a "Singularity" something outside the laws of physics, and scientific laws. There has always been a word for this. It is miracle). Humans just happen to evolve from the gooo and has no more value than a dog.
Meaning: for the Christian there is no issue with meaning or purpose we are here to honor and praise God, to be a part of a community that takes care of each other as we move toward eternity. The secular world has always struggled with this after all we are just cosmic accidents.
Morality: Christians have a focal point for Morality it is given to us by the creator through his caricature and his written word. It is consistent and applies to all human beings. For the secularist there is not continuity morality right and wrong are actually just a matter of opinion.
Destiny: For Christians we were created to live forever, in either this world or the next, for us death is not an end but a new beginning. for the secularist? well you die and that's it and eventually man will be extinct and all of it was for nothing.
