I just watched a video of people egging The Red Hen in Washington DC, followed by the person recording informing them that the restaurant isn't the one that refused to serve Huckabee, in fact they aren't a franchise and the one in Lexington is the one they are looking for.

 The people that egged the restaurant claimed that to be untrue even when showed an actual address, and supporting info on a screen that I assumed was a phone.  Looking into this further I see a lot of denials even when its documented that the people sending threats are wrong.

 Its a common practice for people to send death threats and such these days due to the availability of instant messaging platforms, Yelp etc. and the detachment associated with them.  This can be potentially crippling to unaffiliated businesses unfortunately and the physical violence is especially unfortunate.  

 What I find most unfortunate is that even after someone attacks the wrong establishment (in this case in the thousands) that they refuse in many cases to own up to it.  At least when people were going after Megyn Kelly they had the right person.

 I'd say its a close call, but a direct violation of how the account is permitted to be used.  She should have posted it on a personal account.  I find it hard to believe that she would be completely unaware of the backlash associated with any public posting.

 I find it most interesting that people will continue the threats even when they have been shown that they are attacking the wrong location/person.

you're making the argument much broader than the original post. The original post is about a specific event and you're applying whatever your point is with a broad brush about political culture over 40 years, and you're right, both sides have gotten much much more hyperbolic over that time. But what does that have to do with the original post?   Are you blaming Eegore of that hyperbolic rhetoric? Clearly he's not using it.

cause this whole thing is about a government official, using a government account, so both of those are important, to spread negative news about a private company.

also I don't think Eegore was there throwing rocks or eggs or whatever at the wrong place, so he is exhibiting a rise in decorum over those people.  Eegore isn't endorsing any behavior here, he's just sharing information about people punishing the wrong place and then those same people not owning up to their mistake.
