swing arm bearings

Howdy...removing swing arm for painting and wondering if I really need the "special tool" for removing the bearings, etc., as the manual states?
Or is there a simpler method..

Thanks in advance...!

There aren't any bearings in the swing arm. There are needle bearings installed in the frame which the bolt passes through, make sure they are in good condition and well lubed before reassembly.
