the Raptor is easy. I did it 8 times before realizing I had a cracked weld instead.
bars too long. hacksaw worked for me.
OMG... and sometimes I let the bike just chug out with the brakes on so it doesn't pop off, disturbing my neighbors.
be well.

Stopping the backfire at shut off is easy ,put the bike in neutral, pull the choke out just before hitting the kill switch.

I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the help getting Sad Savage back into running condition. This photo was taken in September of 2018.
She still had a few glitches ... like her throttle cable was too short for the handlebars that had been put on her, so tight left hand turns were a bit tricky.
It was time to stop calling her "Sad Savage" and using her christened name of "Suzi"! Sadness again when Angel decided she didn't want her any more. :'(

In the Spring of 2019, Patrick from Nebraska bought her (and all her spare parts) as a project bike for his son with plans to restore her as close to original as possible.
Last week (May 2021) he sent this photo with a note that she is now complete.

Happy to hear Suzy has gone to a good home. Will you be picking up another one?

I have another friend with a '99 Savage she calls BumbleBee. My experience with Suzy has enabled me to help her trouble shoot some issues (head plug - thanks to knowing of this site!) and become more familiar with her bike.
Personally, I'm a Honda girl (although I currently have two Sportsters). What comes next is anyone's guess!
