Broken Shift Linkage
06/09/18 at 17:55:37

Hey fellow Savage Riders,

Recently my shift linkage between the shift lever and the actual gear box broke while downshifting. I was wondering if anyone had the part for sale or knows where to buy it?

My ride's a '97 if that makes a difference (owned her for less than a year, so still learning all the ins-and-outs)

Did you have trouble getting in gear at the lights?
Has it been dropped?

I will post a pic as soon as I can.

You could say I've been having trouble getting it into gear, as the rod between the controls and the gear box is currently in 2 pieces.

I'm saying with 100% certainty that the link between the lever and the gearbox is broken. Where can I find the part?

The questions are about
Before it broke.
I figure you know the part is available from your dealer or online sources.

They don't break for no reason.
That's why I asked the questions.
It's very possible for a new one to break
IF
You have been stomping on the shifter to get it in gear.

I don't think I am much of a stompper. Never needed too much effort to get in gear.  I am the 3rd owner of this bike, so possible a previous owner was slamming the gears.

Laid her down once, but on the opposite side at around 15 mph. No functional damage from the fall, just a few scratches and a broken turn signal.  Bike ran just fine for another 300 miles (over about a month of riding) after I dumped.

I've tried contacting dealers to no avail, does anyone know the part# even to help my search?

Bike Bandit 25525-21E50. Part #36 in the diagram.

Note when replacing that one end has reverse threads. Keep that in mind and you'll figure out the install.
