The ugly truth is,  the fact that splitting families up is even a conversation is due to the years of paying lip service to border security. Is it a tragedy that children are caught in the middle and separated from a parent? Yes, who could say no to that.

BUT....this is the result of two situation. 1) their home nations are $hitholes. 2) those trapped in $hitholes know if they can just make it to the US and sneak across the border, life will be better for them.

Seems we've got to address each. Frist off, let's be honest and call these places what they are, $hitholes. Sorry, but outside of tourist areas and areas where foreign corporations have industrial facilities (like mine), most of Mexico is a $hithole. Same goes for much of Central and South America. You want to stop seeing families separated? Then call a spade a spade. These countries need help. Taking in only those who have the capability, skill, intelligence, moral desire to improve their children's lives etc to escape doesn't help those countries. Begin improving the governments and law & order in those nations and people will stay home.

Second, it doesn't help us either. This BS that diversity is our strength and we were built on immigration is superficial nonsense. It's not true. Taking in hundreds of thousands with zero skills and no way to support themselves drags us down. Knowledge that the borders are secure will stop those who would otherwise attempt that journey from even trying it.

Put those two things together and we might, might be able to both secure our nation and help those $hithole nations improve.

Prosperity is the key. Law order is the key. Property rights is the key. Capitalism is the key.

I'll bet that if I got busted trespassing with my kid the cops would separate us.  And I know it's not nice to say this, but some of the people who cross With theys kids, ain't even related. But I was hoping row would pop a picture of some kids detained.

I would say, a large number, of Mexicans that is true.

I would say a Very Large number, of So. Americans that is true.
