Custom tail light

Hope this is the correct section to post. I made a small bracket to hold this cheap led tail light I got online. Welded the bracket in place below the rear fender, looks a lot better than all the bulky stock set up. works, doesn't get in the way of anything. Here is the before. And I will upload the after.

Well it looks good - but my experience with those "cheap" LED lights that use a bunch of small LED's......they are not very visible in daylight.
When you are out in traffic in sunlight it is likely the folks behind you won't see that your brake light has come on.
On the Suzuki Cafe' I added a supplemental brake light under the fender that is really bright, and on the Ninja Cafe' I added a controller that uses the rear turn signals as brake lights (red lenses on the rear turn signals)
Stay safe.........

Hi Dave, yes I agree, looks good but not very bright in daylight. Can you tell me about the supplemental light you used? If it's better and brighter, I'd make the switch. I used to use one of those "Bates" type tail lights, it was really bright, but I wanted something tucked away. Open to suggestions, thank you.

I mounted this light up under the fender - it is visible to traffic that is not right on my bumper:

You can see how I mounted it in my bike build thread....post #166.

It was a bit too bright for use after dark - I put some red electrical tape over the lens to tone it down a bit.....a resistor could have done the same thing.

That looks great and really really bright and safe. I'll definitely look into one of those. Your Excel rims look great too. Thank you for the advice.

They do have smaller ones available.

Just be sure you order red, and that they have a "steady" setting so that the light doesn't flash.

I fitted an LED tail light under my fender ... it's actually DOT rated and is really effective. It also mounted straight into the holes from the old licence plate light. The product is the Ultra-Thin Cat Eye by Zodiac
