Posts: 12 Myrtle Beach, SC Gender:	Cam Chain and Tensioner Replacement 05/12/18 at 11:46:19 I am going to order a new tensioner from Verslavy and have it modified. I also want to replace the cam chain at the same time. I remember a post from the past that recommended using a nitrated (?) chain, but I can't seem to find it again. If someone could recommend or direct me to the post I would really appreciate it.

If your changing the chain ,there is no need(hurry) to change the tensioner. a stock chain wouldn't need attention for 10-15,000 miles and a nitrated chain even longer. A tensioner from Versy would still use the stock (first ) mounting hole.I don't mean to say you shouldn't get one from Vercy ,just that you don't need it right away.

Yep.....we are a fun group!

Cam chain tensioner update. I send a new cam chain tensioner to Verslagen on June 6th and received it back on June 11, couldn't ask for any better service. I got a new tensioner and sent it to Verslagen for modification so I really hadn't looked at my existing one. After receiving the modified one back I proceeded to install it. It was much easier then I ever expected, took about two hours total taking my time. The old tensioner was extended almost .75", glad I didn't wait any longer to replace it. Bike had 9664 miles on it. I did not replace the chain, took the advice from the forum members.
If anyone has any droughts about the timing chain wearing, don't.
