Leaking Carb / cranks but won't start
04/22/18 at 11:38:27
I have a 2012 Savage (1100 miles) with original battery that has been put up for over a year with Stabil in the tank. I only have a battery tender....but I am guessing that the battery's life has reached its end just based on age alone, so I will replace it. The leaking carb I 'm guessing was due to a stuck float (?)....no leakage until the petcock was turned to Prime. I tapped the carb with a dowel to see if that would free it and that seemed to work (no more leaking). FWIW, I will try coaxing it to start once the battery is charged.
Am I in the ballpark? Gel battery suggestions? Thanks!

Looks like you are on the right track. I don't know the part # but get an AGM battery.

Didn't mention it but also a Yamaha Raptor petcock will be a good move even if the stock unit is still working.

Thanks for the quick reply.....got it running but it's idling a little slow / rough....need to get some fresh gas. Will definitely look at an AGM battery!
