Maybe I'm strange, but I love kicking a bike to life. If there was a kick starter kit for the S40 it would have been my first purchase. Even dirt bikes, which have gone the way of EFI, now have e-start with no kicker to be found. Sad!

Matchless, your RYCA conversion will weigh around 300 pounds when you are done.

Hi Gary
The conversion to cafe is done, (I bought it that way)  However I want a standard with mid controls. a better tank, better headlight, a rear fender, cev taillight, and the belt guards back on. So it might be 300 lbs now but it will put on some weight to make it more civilized.
I do agree with you about the lack of kick start. It is a shame that Suzuki did not at least have a splined input shaft so one could put one on later.

You don't like the tank and seat/fender? I love them. Will you be selling them?

I will think about it, I probably will run this combo this year, till I can find the rest of the parts. The tank is a copy of a Benelli Mojave. I much rather have the Benelli 250 Riverside tank instead. Just personal preference. But for some reason I can't find any Riverside tanks right now.
Flea bay has some for the 125, but the 250 is needed for cylinder space.
Moto Guzzi V700 tank is the right shape also but alas the same problem that the 125 Benelli tank has.  Sad

I can help you out with the headlight as soon as I get another batch of adapters made.

I brought up the ad for the SR400 because I am a big fan of retro. I have an S40 and a 1986 Honda CT110 (fun!). I once owned a 1960 HD 74 FLH and a 250 Ducati. I also like the Royal Enfield Bullet C5 Military (bone shaker!). You have to wear a bite guard when you ride that monster! Single cylinder Yams I have owned (XT225) and ridden are quite smooth (change the slippery hand grips) and have a consistent power band. The SR400 is EFI and all the (unloved) required emission control BS, but apparently once properly broken in and mastered, can be an enjoyable bike. But, at least in the USA, it ain't popular (read "can be had cheap"). Just don't expect much trade in value if you hate it.

I like the SR400.  One of my favorite bike builds is based on one.

It was the inspiration for my bike.   Not that I planned on putting that much time and effort into my build, it was the basic look I was after.
