Compression test query

I thought I should do a compression Test so I have a baseline to refer back to in the future, however I'm not sure how to deal with the auto decompression. Specifically do I need to disengage it or not and if so how. I've searched this site on google and google itself and I was unable to get this info.

Also do I need to unplug the coil.

thx.

You do need to disable the compression release.  You can unplug the wiring connector - or you could take the nut off the shaft and remove the arm and cable from the shaft (take note of how the spring installs so you can put it back properly).

There is no need to unplug the coil.....however you could turn off the kill switch on the right handlebar if you want.
