Rear tire

The stock rear tire is 140/80/15. If I put on a 130/90/15, will I end up with the same circumference ?  Anyone using a 130/90  ?

Maybe you can get your answer in here.

https://www.discounttiredirect.com/learn/tire-dimensions?s_kwcid=AL!3693!3!{c...

The manufacturers can't be trusted to get it exact. Like shoes, same size, different brands, different fit.

The 130/90-15 is a great replacement size for the stock 140/80, and there are far more (and better) tire choices in that size.

The Kenda website has 'tire weights' plus all the other specs. The weights due to different sizes is eye-opening!

That weight chart sure doesn't make me want to use a 120/90H18 tire!

I wonder how much hp would be required just to get that going? BTW, that's a rhetorical question.

Re:  Rear tire size nomenclature

Can someone explain for sure to me this sizing meaning? I think I know, but  I wanted confirmation.

Let's use this size for example:  120/80-17

The 17 obviously refers to wheel diameter.

The 120 is the width of the tire in millimeters.

However, it's the 80 that I want to be clear in my mind.  I have heard that the 80 means percent of width.  In this case, it would refer to 80% of 120 which equals a 96mm height of the tire.  Is that what you all think is true?

or ...

Could the "80" simply mean that the tire height is 80mm (i.e. not percent, but actual mm dimension)?

Sorry I troubled all of you.  I went on a website that explained the sidewall height (tread to rim) which IS percent of tire width.

The ME880 150/80 is an excellent tyre for this bike and the circumference must be a little larger than stock as the speedo is almost exactly correct.
