Can someone explain for sure to me this sizing meaning? I think I know, but I wanted confirmation.
Let's use this size for example: 120/80-17
The 17 obviously refers to wheel diameter.
The 120 is the width of the tire in millimeters.
However, it's the 80 that I want to be clear in my mind. I have heard that the 80 means percent of width. In this case, it would refer to 80% of 120 which equals a 96mm height of the tire. Is that what you all think is true?
or ...
Could the "80" simply mean that the tire height is 80mm (i.e. not percent, but actual mm dimension)?
