Huh? How did you get that out of the article??

Again ray, did you actually read the article or just the headline?

The bill doesn’t stop the state from recognizing marriages, whether it be straight or gay couples. Marriages would still be recorded by the state when couples file an affidavit with a judge.

“It removes the discretion from the judges,” Albritton said. “The judges can no longer say yes or no.”

That being said, the bigger issue is how much say should the state have? In a bassackwards way, the repub is shining light on that very issue.

What's wrong with that? Would you want a judge to have interfered with your bi-racial marriage? Of course not.

Radical moves in either direction are folly.
I'm as much of a Libertarian as anyone, and I disagree with a lot of the control and licensing. In a good world people could know by the reputation of a service provider if they were good at performing that service. How would a hospital know a nurse should or shouldn't be hired without a licensing board?
That doesn't mean a Hair braiding person or manicurist needs a license..
