Engine ticking... still.
01/09/18 at 12:35:50

I just got my valves adjusted by a mechanic but there was still a ticking noise coming from the engine. He checked the valves again but the tick persisted. He asked if I ever ran the bike with low oil and I said no. I change the oil every 1000 mi using valvoline 20w50 oil. I’m not sure about previous owners. He said i might have to go in the engine to see what’s going on with it. He also said pieces in the engine might be old and worn since the bike is so old. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here’s the link to the bike: https://youtu.be/gMWgQf5IDQw

It will always tick some.

But what you might check is the top of the valve to see if a divot is worn into it from the adjuster, which will throw off the adjustment.

Also, when the rockers or cam are worn, the rocker will start striking the decomp cam.  But it doesn't sound like that.

I’ll check the top of the valve.. do you guys think my bike is safe to drive still? It’s my only way to get to work.

The only danger is extra wear.
You're gonna have to judge that for yourself.

The people who have the highest mileage use Rotella.
The clutch and engine like it.

I noticed when I accelerate a high pitch ringing comes from the engine.

Ringing or pinging ? pinging  indicates that the fuel your using has to low octane , I would try the next higher octane fuel before looking elsewhere.
