This is an interesting article. I have thought that their target market has been saturated for some time, but this article more or less confirms that.

It is very interesting, but HD does make a lot of very heavy and expensive bikes. Does anyone know how their sales of the 500cc machine are going? One thing about our bikes is that they are light. I can back mine up a slight incline into my garage, I'd never do it on a HD, or for that matter a larger heavier cruiser

Hmm, makes you think that a mid size standard bike, with light weight and good handling along with a good entry level price, would do well in this current climate.
LS650 engine with  a new head (i.e. Exhaust port) and a standard frame.
