A few years ago I installed 11 1/2 inch HD Sportster shocks on my S40 and they were an improvement over the stock shocks but were still a little stiff going over certain areas of the local roads.  Those shocks jacked up the rear end and steepened the rake angle enough that the bike turned into the curves a little quicker which was something I liked, but I still wanted something softer.
So I finally bought and installed a set of Intruder shocks and they made a world of difference.  I set the pre-load up by two notches and the ride is wonderful.  I have back problems and there are certain patches of pavement I dreaded crossing but no longer.  I can see why the performance oriented rider would need stiffer shocks but considering my back it's the best thing I've done to any bike.  They are a little soft but still they haven't bottomed out on me yet.  I will have to install Serowbot's spacer mod to the side stand, it works as it is but the bike leans over a little too much when parked.

Benn thinking about changing out the stock shocks on my S40. Stock are only 10.5". You went an inch longer; any issues with the side stand being too short?

Bot lives in Arizona. If he can find a hockey puck, I figure anyone can.

Have mercy on a 60-year-old newbie! Any photos or descriptions of the hockey puck sidestand mod? I've spent some time searching posts without luck.
