If I was young, healthy and strong again, I would build a log home with a VERY LARGE garage using squared off logs to make stacking them easier, AND take welding and machining classes so I could do more on bikes. Then I would need to populate the garage with building tools.
Oh, one more thing...buy a helicopter!

In hindsight I think it could have really caught my imagination. If I had the money today, I'd buy a good lathe.

I bought a Vulcan 500 in '15 and sold it a year later. Overweight and overlong. It was too pretty to cut up, so sold it to a noob for a profit. That's the idea though. I sat on a new 2016, Vulcan 500 when I was looking for a bike. They had one in the same showroom a the S40. I also felt it was a bit long, and felt heavy ... especially at 500 cc.

Whole different story when I sat on the S40 Cool

Lancer and Versey just left my place to get out in front of the Hurricane rain coming in. They have two bikes that looked a lot like that first picture you posted ... but ... they got them big pistons , super cams , special carbs and such in the mix too.

If I could get the time set aside I'd line-up a string of campgrounds so I could take my Savage for a 10 day cruise ! Wink

Building your own bikes comes a huge sense of accomplishment & pride !
Not to mention you get to ride a bada$$ bike , one no one else has !
