Pinched a tube on my DR350 while woods riding ... here's the result, minutes later on the street.

OUCH ! You ok ?

Rule of thumb , air it up , let it sit overnight , recheck pressure , then install it ! Go ahead and ask me why I do it that way. Been there done that !

That is one of the big issues with tubes in tires - they can leak the air out in a big hurry.

I have a friend that had a front tire blowout on his bike - it went down hard and fast and he broke 3 fingers as they got trapped between the clutch lever and handlebar when it hit the ground.  It was a "big deal" for him, as his other hobby is playing an upright bass in a band and he needs to be able to use that hand - it took a few years for him to recover, and the hand still bothers him.

I have another friend that just converted his spoked rims to tubeless....I will let you know how it works out.

I had a valve stem separate from the tube this summer. Lost all air in a second. Luckily it was the rear tire and the bike only got a little squirmy under me. I've had lots of flats in 40+ years of riding, but not a front tire on the street. That is a nightmare situation.

The problem was that I was running lower pressures offroad, and pinched a tube.

I had a rear tire go flat about 2 years ago. It took about 5 minutes to go completely flat. I did manage to ride it like that for a few miles until it went all the way down and I reached "civilization".

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
