Just curious... I have a 2015 S40 and a 2007 Sportster. Who else on this forum has both?

Yes , The Sportster is "Set-up" just like the LS- . They have Windshields , saddle bags , rear box , GPS , Floorboard/heal-rest pegs , and longer legs than the factory-s gave them . The difference is the seat room , yea my wife's helmet don't hit my helmet when we're on the Harley ! But , I hate backing that thing up or pushing it anywhere !
I'm thinking the Guzzi V7 might replace the Sportster ... but that's not completely decided yet ??? Its 150 LBs lighter with the same room and power.

Love both of them , each is a part of me , but not my identity , well maybe a little !

06 S40, 04 XL883
The S40 has bags and a windshield and is completely stock except for a raptor and a versy adjuster. It's my long distance bike. Just came back from the Motoamerica road races at Pittsburgh International Race Complex on it as a matter of fact. I'm planning on riding it to the flat track race in Williams Grove Pa. in a couple of weeks. The Sportster is a bit of a hodrod and is pretty much my around town butt jewelery. The Sporty gets a bit uncomfortable after a couple of hours.

2012' 883
97' Savage
09' S50
Gonna' sell the 883.... too heavy... (I can handle it okay,. just don't enjoy it, and the S50 will do anything the 883 will at 100lbs lighter)...

I was tempted by the S50 too... when I was looking at the 2007 Sportster, there was a S50 with low miles for sale on Craigslist locally. In the end fuel injection, my favorite color (pearl white), the very low miles, and the wish to have a Harley once in my life pushed me to buy the Sportster!
Good luck in selling the Sportster.

I'm not really a H/D biker type but I love my sportster ! It makes me feel good that others here are the same. I'm a motorcycle nut , not right in the head , just a two wheeled bonafide nut , love all motorcycles. Thanks JLC for your thoughts. You are not the odd man out ! My RYCA & Sportster sleep together every night. Sportster rules on a road with long sweeping turns but the RYCA eats up the nastiest rough tore up mountain passes with no effort ! Only a true motorcycle nut owns both and loves both , I AM NOT ALONE ! Great forum with the best members , even if you don't own a sporty !

I have a 1988 Savage 4 speed and a 1995 80cu.in. Dyna Superglide.
Same cylinder capacity, 650/670 ea., but the Dyna being a twin is much more flexible, it'll pull away from 1500 rpm.
Also, 50mph is my comfortable cruising speed on the Savage (60 max.) while the Dyna will do 70 forever...
On the other hand, the Savage weighs 160 Kg, the Dyna weighs 280 Kg.
So in thick city traffic the Savage is the better bike.
So why is it that the Savage has been sitting in the garage since Sept 2016 and I'm Always riding the Dyna ?

When I bought my Sportster, there were some loose bolts and nuts, notably those attaching the handlebars to the tree, and the mirrors. The rest of the fasteners were tight.
Well, I took my Sportster to the dealer this morning to have new tires mounted. The bolts/nuts for the wheels and brakes were tight alright, and not likely to come loose... the previous owner used Loctite. Red Loctite. I'm glad I did not try to do the job on my own.

I like the rubber mounted engines too... and the fuel injection, and the peanut tanks. That's why I got the 2007, last year they fitted this style of fuel tank to the 883 Sportsters. Are your Sportsters 883s or 1200s?
