I second the round. Leaves more negative space and flows better with the whole frame.

I'm not digging the idea of a round oil tank.  Oil tanks don't go with board trackers IMO.  You don't see many even on customs.  I think you want to keep some "space" in the frame.

Get a little Anti gravity AG-801 or similar and put it in a tiny box in front of the rear wheel.  That would be my vote if I had one.

On the other hand, everything you've done so far has been outstanding so if you are seeing it, git-er-done! Smiley

Thanks for the input.  I'm heading in the direction of a round fake oil tank for now.  It will be about 9 inch diameter which sounds big but really doesn't look as big as I thought it would on the frame.  It actually looks smaller than the oblong profile and I don't have to worry about trying to get it level like an oblong tank would require Smiley It's a bolt on feature so I can change it easily in the future if I want to do the smaller battery and or the streamlined shape that was suggested.

When you get it done and decide you hate it you can always sell it and build a box like you have on your bobber.   Grin

Just messing around.  I'm looking forward to some more steller fabrication.   Thanks for sharing and keep up the fine work. It's really fun to follow.

Thanks again for watching.

Ring rolled.  Right now it sits a bit high as the ring stills needs to be trimmed to weld to the flat on the bottom.  Aluminum end covers to be fully round and extend past the flat that supports the base of the battery.

Fake oil tank progress.  I think I might try to put a bit of dome shape on the end caps but I don't have much room on the chain side.  I'll wait until I see chain clearance and then decide.  Also will add a cap ass'y to complete the illusion.  Maybe a tap too  Grin.  Weather is starting to warm up, pressure is on!  Battery gets anchored next.

Steering stop.  Kind of an afterthought but I think it will work.  Shown just tacked, tabs are full welded all the way around now.

everything about this project is making me wish I had a machine shop and a welder.  I've looked at board track frames on the Voodoo Vintage site for years but could never convince myself to pull the trigger on one.  Love the way the tank blends into the lines of the bike.

I had one tiny little almost interference between the right tank and the carb  Embarrassed  Scalloped out and patched to provide more clearance.  Leak check test good!

The two tabs hanging under the tank are for the ignition coil.  I'm going to try to eliminate them by putting the coil up in between the tanks.  I will be directly above the top mount if I can fit it.  I'm a little concerned it will get warm there but it would be warm right above the exhaust pipe too, thoughts?

Start of wiring.  A number of things need extensions to get them back into the battery box. I will put the CDI on one side of the battery and the starter relay on the other.  R/R goes underneath battery.  I think I'll cut a foam block to cushion/mount the CDI.
