Stater wiring 3 yellow wires
07/05/17 at 12:48:12

So I posted this a lil while ago but didn't really get a response .
While I was  in the process rewiring the bike to move the battery  to under the swing arm .  I accidentally clipped the three yellow wires that come from   under the stator cover on the left side  and go up to a 3 wire clip that  I'm pretty sure is  plugged into the voltage regulator .  I pulled the cover but I am not really confident in that area . Any help would be greatly appreciated . I'm only a basic wiring kinda guy  and this 99  needs to get on the road . Also it seem I lost one of the long bolts that holds the stater cover on . Any ideas on where to get a knee one ... Thanks DeadKings

I've replaced all the bolts on beast, so any one that you need just pay shipping $3.

Tell me which one I'll pull it off the stocker and measure.

the  3yellow wires: connect any yellow from the stator to any yellow on the rectifier. it doesn't matter which joins to which. they're all the same.  HTH.

My step dad's step dad helped him unload a rented cement mixer outta the pickup.
Broke my step dad's leg when he dropped it on him.

I'm helpful like that.
But hey, I'm Trying!

You got three responses, one of which was from me. You are getting the same info now that you got 10 days ago, it doesn't matter- yellow is yellow.

Why did you pull the cover ? did you clip the wires right at the cover?

For future reference:

If something is being disassembled and it Appears that Cutting Wires is necessary, odds are, you're doing it in a manner Not prescribed in the Maintenance Manual.

Thanks,
And I was nice. My head didn't explode. It pressured up and hurt real bad for a few seconds, but the duct tape held.

It's pretty standard to cut the stator wires.
It's a giant booger to get them out whole,.. and most aftermarket Stators are solder in place.

Does the book suggest cutting?
If it's smart, it's smart..
Now I'm Really glad I was nice.

According to the Clymer manual:

Stator Assembly Removal/Installation
1. Remove Seat
2. Remove left side frame cover
3. Disconnect negative battery lead
4. Disconnect the alternator 3 pin electrical connector containing 3 yellow wires from the voltage regulatorlocated on the rear of the fender
5. Drain the oil....(tired of typing)
6. Remove the drive pulley guard and the drive pulley
7. Remove Tie Wrap
8. Remove bolt securing Stator Assembly
9. I'm tired of typing - but no where does it say to cut any wires.
