Traded S40 for something different
07/02/17 at 05:19:06
Went to look at a used C90 at Honda of Tulsa and ended up trading in my 2015 S40, but didn't buy the C90. Decided on a 2017 Honda Fury - Matte Black Metallic. Definitely taking some getting used to with the 6' wheelbase and doesn't handle crosswinds as well as the S40, but overall still pretty comfortable IMO. When wanting to get something larger for longer commuting and group rides, I'm not convinced it was the best choice to make...but I've always liked the Fury. Loved the S40 while I had it, just really planned on keeping it for much longer. At just over 2,500 miles it still looked showroom new when traded.

Lancer, are you in the market for a low mileage 2015?

Buster,
My son has been riding a Honda VTX1300C for a few years now. Different styling than the Fury - more conventional cruiser, tourer - but exactly the same drivetrain. It's the nicest big V twin I've ever ridden, a truly great engine.
I've sat on a couple of Fury's in showrooms, and they are actually more comfortable for me than my sons VTX.
Nice bike ! I think you're going to enjoy it.

Not sure I'm at liberty to post the actual dealer sales link of my
old
bike here in the "Cafe" but here is the dealer site front page:
http://hondaoftulsa.com/
- Last time I checked my S40 was still listed in their used inventory. It does have the OEM pillow seat, windshield, front and rear signal visors...and even Suzuki valve stem caps. And I still have the, used for only 2 weeks, factory seat here at home. Planning on dropping the original seat off at the dealer this Thursday when I leave the Fury for its first service.

I went and tried out the new Honda Rebel 500, but didn't like it much. Engine, in my view was GREAT. Frame and seating position on it not so good.
I would love to get (even used) a Honda CB500F instead.
Still looking.

Guys ,
If you'll put the 25 tooth pulley and some 11 or 12 inch shocks on a good S-40 then you'll have more bike than you'll ever need .
I did add a two piece seat off a HD to mine so them long rides are nice and comfrey.
Bigger ... is not Better
... its just Bigger ,
Heavy , and
Harder to Handler .
And that the whole Honest Truth !
The 25 tooth pulley will have your S-40 running along at 75mph like it was born to run 80mph.

+1. Best thing I ever did.
So far MM has sold me on on both the fork brace and 25 tooth KAW front pulley. I'm sorta scared what he's going to try and sell me on this year.

Stew , you got me thinking I should start selling parts ???
Honestly guys , I can afford any bike (s) I want ... I have a S-40 (with a few accessories ) and a HD Sportster (sometimes I need longer seating ).
We got a feller in our CMAUSA chapter that has a Honda Furry and he keeps up just fine with the Gold Wings , and HD Dressers and the Three Wheelers ... He even keeps up with my S-40 till we get to the twisties.
That Furry is a pretty bike to look at . I smile and wave at all the bikers I meet on the road . Ya know its not about which bike ya ride , I've even got one buddy who like them Café Racer bikes ...

I don't exactly get blown around, but I do wrestle with the weight of the bike trying to hold a straight line. Front wheel does a little shimmy, like you're getting warmed up for some highspeed orange cone dodging.

One of the reasons we meet on 9/11 weekend is that is also the weekend of Lynchburg's (home town) Motorcycle Rally . Sometime they have a pretty bike contest ...
That Furry looks like a born Winner !
We got plenty of room and your welcome to bring something to shoot if ya like , they'll be Day rides , firing the grill a lot , and a bike rally on Saturday w/poker run if we get up and about in time ...
You can enjoy your favorite beverage but keeping a clean tongue is good (you being from Oklahoma I'll bet that ain't no problem anyway) .

We got plenty of pea shooters and lots of peas to propel out of them .....
You should come, we are going to be cooking a whole flock of noveaux Raptasaurus wings on the grill, well marinated in Italian veggie juice.
We should have us a contest .... who can enfold the largest number of noveaux Raptasaurus in the least amount of time, say 5 minutes.
.... you are going to do
WHAT
to those little flappy noveaux reptiles ????
When the little guys go to squealing once you get started and their grandma hears, their old great grandma will ponderously flap over the tree tops to enfold YOU, yew decadent pervie yew ....
