So I picked up a Suzuki S40 and decided to build a cafe racer! I have been wanting to do this for a few years now.

I looked at the Ryca stuff first but that seems pricey. So far I have taken off a bunch of extra stuff, removed the battery box, air box, wrapped the exhaust, and picked up a new muffler.

Ive been reading the carb jetting threads. So hopefully I can figure that part out.

I plan to make my own seat and fab a battery box. Adding clip on handlebars. Not sure what I am doing for a gas tank.

Any suggestions would be great!

Are you looking for some clip ons?

I can powdercoat the 1" bars black, and drill the ends for whatever size mirror you want to mount.

I could use some help on the gas tank. Are there any stock tanks that look good with the racer style?

Nothing that is a bolt on....they all take some form of adapting.  The Benelli Mojave tank has been used, the Suzuki GT 185 and GT380/550 tanks has also been used a few times.  Not too long ago there was a thread about a tank that is being offered on the RYCA website and also is available on eBay.

One way to get ideas is to watch what other builders use and how they mount them.  First, look at the tons of build threads on here.  There is a list in one post that Dave started but there are a ton of others not listed.

Also look on YouTube for examples:

There are a lot of great ideas out there.

That was so fun to watch (and humbling).  That guy didn't build a bike.  He sculpted one from raw materials.

The "Build Thread" on this forum has unfortunately been compromised by the recent PhotoBucket fiasco......some of the threads no longer have photos - which makes the threads a bit useless.

When a forum member starts a build and documents the progress in the same thread and then gets pretty far along, it can be included in the Bike Builds sticky.  (When a forum member posts his build one step at a time in multiple threads, it is not possible to include each one in the Bike Build thread).  We also don't include single items like seats, saddlebags, handlebars, headlights, etc. as a "build".

Yeah, that's why I just uploaded my pictures to the site.

Also, for the amount of builds on this site (which is pretty unique to this bike!), it might be worth having a build section.

Ohiomoto - I just realized I never put your "70's show" into the Bike Builds section.  Sorry....I should have done that a long time ago.  I will get it done ASAP.

No worries.  I think there are some others too.  Like there's a bunch of new ones.  Seems like we get a new build here every month.  That's why I wonder if a build section of the forum might useful.
