Why can't the left understand you can not legislate prosperity?

I'd care
BUT
Intelligent people who understand basic economic LAWS, not suggestions, told them what the end result would be.
Just like Nafta and all the
Level the Playing Field
BULLSHIT, Bamicare, etc, just as Elections have Consequences, telling an employer how much must be paid to each employee per hour CAN'T WORK.

So, when will YOU, the PERPETUALLY WRONG, STFU and let the people who are so often Right run things?
If the people who pushed for these Clear and Obvious FAILURES would just admit it to themselves and Sit Down and STFU and allow the intelligent to TRY to save the country, they would Benefit THEMSELVES!

I haven't tried this yet; although, if I go to the first post of the thread can I rename it?

"PERPETUALLY WRONG, STFU"   Grin

and when the reduced number of staff reduces the quality of service, the business starts to dwindle and slowly fades into memory.  You have to study the longitudinal impact as well as the immediate (5 yr changes).

Ideally, the marketplace should force the pay increase with no one needing to work for slave wages (could the anti immigrant effort of the GOP shoot themselves in the tentacle, er .. foot. Smiley

Not sure what you are trying to say....

You want immigrants to be slaves?

The bottom rung of the ladder will ALWAYS be the lowest step, no matter how high you place the ladder up a facade.

Seems you are trying to put lipstick on a pig and call it something else.
You want everyone to be socially, philosophically, economically the same, as in equal?
That is the only way you can remove any unfairness in life....
Everything else is just degrees of differences.

What I was suggesting is while "capitalists" will shout these results to the hills, they will not follow to see how many places close as poorer service causes a shift to other stores, restaurants or businesses (if it does, I do not know).

There will always be a disparity, but I think the range from least paid to highest paid should not be so great; nor should the wealthiest get excessive tax breaks at the expense of the middle class and the poorest who need support.  Tax breaks, capital gains tax at a lower rate than "earned income" and minimal inheritance tax while people who are working to get ahead are hit with high taxes, and tax write off for mortgage interest, donations etc. .  This makes me a Republican of the 50's rather than the Repubs of today.

Let’s say someone was working 4 days a week, 8 hours x  4 = 32 hours.   At  10.00 a  Hour,
that 320.00 a week.

Now, they are raised to 15.00 a hour.
That’s  480.00 a week.

             OPPS
Puts them OVER the Income Limit, to get, Welfare.
So now they work, just 20 hours a week at 15.00
(Just a  little less to buy ‘Bling’ & ’Tattoos’ with)

Sounds good,
the company still needs people to work, so they will hire more people, thus, More people working.

BUT, the person they hire, is also on Welfare,

So, we pay, for them sitting at home,  (Or Working)
(Would be the same, either way)

BUT, the Company, has to charge  MORE, for it’s, ’thing’, to pay the bigger wages.

Now Tell me again,  ‘Who Pays, and  Who Benefits’ ?

Just like Taxing the Rich!

Rich makes a ‘widget’, sells it for, .50,
   (To the Poor)
Now taxed .03 on that, ‘widget’,
he now sells, just as many,  for.55 each.

Who Pays, and WHO  gets MORE  Money ?????

Trippah......

I think man has always THOUGHT his ideas as lofty, meaningful, and just....
However, executing those ideas are not the same as thinking them.
Look how much money gets gobbled up by administrative cost, etc, in charities.
Often times those good ideas become avenues to revenue for those overseeing these programs, and their focus is on ensuring their own welfare, first, even if it's in opposition to the original intent of the well meaning program.

The most efficient programs, as in business, are those that can decide and solve issues at the lowest level, not kicked upstairs, so to speak.

So how does this equate to what we are talking about?
Put the tools in the persons hands that needs them to fix their problems....
Let them be in control of their own destiny.
Let them be the one to achieve self worth by earning it themselves....
That has been the best course since man left his cave.

Look how the government trying to fix the Black mans problem has destroyed much of their lives....
Good intentions, absolutely....
Some very good results, indeed.
Some absolute travesty too.

Of course one size does not explain, nor fit all, and that is the problem of trying to centralize society.

It may be, but it seems to me that people will take the cheapest way out.  Thus, (and this is only if global warming is indeed increased substantially by our burning hydrocarbons) we use coal and oil as our primary energy sources (with natural gas charging up despite fracking's reported damage to our environment.)  The short term (200 years) man uses his tools and provides heat and transportation but in the 500 year span, much of what he has accomplished could be washed away etc etc.

You are right, every program has ever increasing "overhead" because we all want a pay increase -check out Syracuse ny where an interesting suggestion for County gvt has been floated.  8 years maximum government service, no change in salary.  Then move on to other endeavors. But humans being just a tad stupider than Lemmings will always follow the leader who promises the best fix (short term).

Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to just blame Millennials for this?

 Especially in the Seattle area.

I'm not serious but I've noticed a ton of trends, some of them clickbait, towards Millennials and their spending/living habits and how its destroying businesses all over the US.

Home buying set to drop to near recession levels = Millennials too happy with urban living.

Recreational Vehicle sales at an all time low = Millennials too environmentally conscious, won't buy RV's to save on fuel.

The word "Snowflake" is offensive = Sheltered Millennials too sensitive and unwilling to be part of a group - must be individualized.

Minimum Wage increase creates more poverty = Lets find a way to blame Millennials again.
