Oil Stain Pattern on Engine - Finding the leak
06/08/17 at 12:13:22

Hi guys!
I made a short vid (1:13) showing the oil staining pattern on my engine. I plan on replacing the head cap, but, based on the areas of oil staining, I'm wondering if something else isn't leaking as well? Your input is highly appreciated!

Thanks!
Andy

A couple of thoughts. first, remove the plastic covers so you can see the top of the head. Secondly, hot oil flows freely in open air. It's next to impossible to pinpoint oil leaks on an engine that hasn't been prepared to find an oil leak. Clean the engine the best you can with Engine Brite and a toothbrush and then take it on a short ride. Hopefully after that you will locate the location of the leak.

Have you performed the head plug fix yet?  I found that the oil would go EVERYWHERE due to the wind pulling it away from the front of the motor near the exhaust port where it was actually leaking.
