Dadgum headlight,,
06/05/17 at 13:20:30

Sitting behind a pickup I realized my bulb has ceased to light up on lo beam.. and the bike shops are closed, and I don't know what bulb to get without pulling the crappy thing out..

It is an H4 bulb - most likely called a 9003 bulb at auto and big box stores.  Any auto parts store, WalMart, etc. will have it.  Buy the Silverstar if you want more bright (but less life).

And the wiring is just as often the cause as is the bulb - the wires in the harness like to break as a result of all the left/right turns.

I'll go for bright. It's only got eight thousand miles on it. The 05 had twenty and no headlight loss, but I have been on some way rougher roads.
Please don't be a wire,,
Thank You, Dave.

Go ahead and get the 2 pack (not to be confused with Tupac). Keep the other new one packed away nice and dry on your bike so you have it when the other short-life silverstar burns out on you.

I got behind a black C5 Jeep and the low side is working, but I got the single bulb for nineteen dollars, and I have the OEM for backup.
I've been planning on getting a bulb anyway. The roads I run at night if I go fishing just need some light. I could get home on low beam, but it would be slow.. and unlike the car, lose a headlight and there isn't another.. get out on the road and having a spare could be important.

The differences are obvious. The new, IckSpensive bulb has a bluish tint and the reflector behind one filament is much more polished. The Shining in My Face from inches away difference is pretty big. I think I'm gonna like it.

Which Silverstar did you buy?
http://www.osram-americas.com/en-us/products/automotive/Pages/silverstar.aspx

I avoid buying bulbs with a blue tint on the glass....the blue blocks out some of the yellow light - and some of that yellow is what helps to illuminate the local deer!  You actually can see more when the light is clear.

Without looking I Wanna say it's the 9003/H4.
I'll get the package.

Yep, Sylvania Silverstar, and it cost nineteen bucks. It Says , and maybe it's wrong to say it here, but it Says
Brighter Downroad + Whiter Light. They will surely and rightly be boycotted for such racist statements.

I just wanted to check and make sure you didn't get the Silverstar ZXE or Silverstar Ultra....those are tinted and even shorter lived than the Silverstar.

It wasn't tampered with. I don't know hoot about what it's Supposed to look like. Nobody had opened the package and swapped bulbs. But I didn't notice the slight blue tint till I got it out. I Hope it's not gonna be one of the lights I hate seeing coming at me.

Slight blue isn't a problem.

These are the ones that make the horrible blue light.

I sure hope the people behind those blasted lights can see better than I can when they are coming at me. My eyes are pretty sensitive to light. I keep dash lights dim, and if I'm awake I'm probably wearing a cap, shades when I'm riding if needed, and those blasted lights force me to look at the edge of the road and follow that.
Mine isn't so blue,,

When I bought my two pack of silverstars there was both the non-tinted and the slightly tinted versions. I opted for the slightly tinted (same type, just appeared to be a newer batch I guess?) because the clear ones had previously been opened.
